We will use our industry expertise to decipher the various requirements found within the projects documents in order to provide an accurate and cost efficient takeoff that is code compliant.
This includes any seismic and vibration isolation (VI) materials, as well as seismic/wind engineering calcs for MEP distributed systems and equipment.
Preliminary Data Submittal Packages
We can provide an all-in-one preliminary package for all quoted seismic and VI materials from the bid phase, which would include:
Isolator data sheets w/ thorough description of product’s components and typical functions
Cutsheets w/ dimensional, deflection, and capacity data
Step-by-step installation instructions
Piping Spring Hanger Layouts
In the event of a project requiring spring hangers on suspended piping throughout the building, we can mark up piping layouts with recommended hanger locations and spring sizes required at each location.
Along with this process, we will also provide a data submittal package that will include info on:
Hanger location point loads
Deflection rates based on spring size chosen
Seismic Layouts
Once a job is awarded, we can better analyze our bid phase estimates and employ any available exemptions/rules that will provide efficiency in material and labor costs.
Marked up layouts will be imposed onto final/latest drawing sets for most accuracy for field guys installing products in the weeks to follow.
A preliminary layout package will be provided for review/approval prior to being sent to the stamping engineer in order to ensure everything is to the highest quality/accuracy.
Once approved, layouts will then be stamped by a PE in the state the project is located.
Additionally, we can also implement seismic bracing into your 3D model, coordinating brace arms to avoid potential obstructions while still meeting installation requirements.
Equipment Anchorage Calculations
In our experience, anchorage calculation packages can sometimes be overcomplicated and lengthy. At SAVI, our goal is to provide calcs that aim for brevity and simplicity; not only to expedite the EOR reviewing process, but also for the peace of mind knowing what exactly you are receiving.
We will design, not around product lines, but around your needs. Maybe you prefer to mount a unit on angle iron instead of a strut frame; Or, you have a preferred material/anchor manufacturer. Whatever your preferences may be, we are here to make the installing process as simple as possible.
Similar to seismic layouts, a preliminary package will be provided for revision comments or final approval.
Once the preliminary package is accepted, calcs will be PE-stamped in the required state.
Post-Installed Letter of Compliance
Once a portion or all of the seismic and/or vibration isolation material has been installed, we can review and either:
If there are any problem areas that deviate from proper installation, we will provide recommendations towards how to properly address them.
If all materials are installed as required, we can provide a stamped letter of compliance addressing that the installation meets code requirements.
Technical Questions/Training
We can answer any technical questions and are also happy to teach your team the basics that might help land future opportunities.
If there are any problems on site, we can coach whoever necessary to spot important information and/or what to snap pictures of so we can provide immediate technical solutions remotely.
We can also provide job-walk services for those projects that require a more hands-on, expert touch.
Tracking & Order Processing
Having taken the project from a bid, through design phase, up to the point of material release, we will have developed an intimate knowledge of the project’s material requirements and can assist in those releases.
If you would rather avoid having to create numerous product codes in your purchase order system, you can write a simple, one-line “seismic & vibration isolation” PO and we will provide the relevant product sizes and quantities to the factory to help save you time and give you confidence that the right parts are being ordered.
In addition, we can have the factory mark boxes of isolators with the corresponding equipment tags to help organize and identify components.
We will also assist in tracking down lead times for made-to-order items.
Miscellaneous Engineering
Along with the standard services, we can also provide custom engineering solutions for:
